What Are Spinner Verbs?
When Claude Code — Anthropic's AI coding assistant — processes your requests in the terminal, it displays rotating words like "Pondering...", "Scheming...", and "Discombobulating..." instead of a generic loading indicator. These spinner verbs have become iconic in the developer community. There's a paperback dictionary cataloguing all 185+ of them. People customize their own with everything from Dune references to cooking terms. The official Claude Code Sticker Mule store has sold over 2,500 orders. It's become a whole subculture — and if you're reading this, you're probably part of it.
